Communicate for Crying our Loud Herbalife Team Builders
To lead a Herbalife team effectively, you need to figure out a way to communicate. Sometimes it's with words, most of the time it's without.
Effective communication is the subject of a fantastic training by Dan Clark. He teaches the importance of support and understanding. These concepts MUST be implemented with your Herbalife team.
30 minutes late, a little girl comes walking through her front door. "I've been worried sick! Where have you been?!", scolds her mother. The little girl tells her mom that she was walking her friend, Mary, home and her doll fell to the ground and shattered into pieces. Mom, touched, asked her daughter, "So you stayed to help Mary put the doll back together?"
"That's not it mommy. I wasn't able to fix the doll. All I wanted to do was to help Mary cry."
That is communication!
Remember that building a Herbalife team can be very difficult at times. Sometimes you've got to be that shoulder to cry on. You need to be there to offer your support. You do that be simply being there.
There is the story of a fantastic basketball player in Iowa, in fact the best the state had ever seen. He was all-county, all state, all everything. Well, his mother was there at every game, home and away for 3 years. A great parent, right? The kicker is that she is blind.
She wasn't able to see him but he could always see her!
One of the most powerful tools we have as leaders is support.
Remember that is true with you Herbalife team. You may not be able to see your people but they are always watching you and looking to your for support. Technically and emotionally.
To wrap up, Dan wrote a touching story while in junior high school on understanding. In the most profound way, understanding connects each and every one of us.
"Puppies for Sale!" exclaims a sign in front of neighborhood store. Signs like that have a tendency to attract young children. Without fail a little boy appears at the counter asking, "How much is a puppy?"
"These are very special puppies," expalains the owner, "I can't let any of them go for less than $35 each." The boy reaches into his pocket and pulls out all that he has, $4.39. With money in hand, he asks to see the puppies. Being good natured, the store owner smiles and whistles for the puppies. Out comes a line of puppies with a little one with a severe limp bringing up the rear.
Concerned the little boy asks, "Why is he limping?"
The man explains, "He was born with a badly damaged hip socket and the vet says he will never walk normally."
"That's the one for me!" exclaims the little boy.
"No you don't want him. If you really do, then I'll just give him to you."
Frustrated, the little boy declares, "No thank you. That dog is worth just as much as any of the others! Don't just give him to me. I'll pay you 75 cents a month along with my $4.39 until he is paid off."
"You don't want that little puppy, he won't ever run, jump or play with you like the others."
The little boy, in response, pulls up his right pant leg to reveal a large steel braces supporting a badly twisted leg. With clarity the boy looks to the owner and says, "Well sir, I don't really run too well myself and that little puppy will need someone who understands."
These lessons of support and understanding can be applied to your Herbalife team. You will build the Herbalife team of your dreams when you apply these concepts.
